What to expect from South Park The Fractured But Whole

Ubisoft is ready to take you back on down to South Park to have yourself a time, reprising the role of aptly named The New Kid. We love the route the creators have taken by making you a new character, as it means you can interact with all your favourite diminutive crude folks from Stan to Kyle and Jimmy to Timmy. There is the choice of being male or female, but the characterisation pleasingly does not stop there.  Gameplay trailers debuted at E3 in June, and look to replicate the normal look and feel of episodes of the famous show. One trailer shows gameplay footage of The New Kid joining Cartman’s crime-fighting gang where you can choose your backstory and type of superhero. We hope that this affects gameplay and outcomes of story, much like games such as the Telltale series or Until Dawn.  The story continues on from the end of the Stick of Truth, the last successful game in the series. The new game, which never looked likely to come to fruition until South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone decided that actually, it’s a lot of fun.  The story is based around the Coon episodes of the long-running American show, with Cartman taking centre stage in the gameplay as you try to become part of the kids’ superhero gang. South Park regulars Kenny, Kyle and Stan are all along for the ride, with the boys splintering in the trailer to form two separate factions. It’s up to you as the new kid to become part of the group and help fight crime as darkness envelops the Colorado town.
